Łobakowo, Poland – On March 30, feed technology solutions provider WEDA Dammann & Westerkamp GmbH announced details of its cooperation with Polish feed producer HiProMine. By supplying HiProMine with insects, including black soldier fly larvae (BSFL), WEDA is helping the company develop products for pet and animal nutrition.
With its industrial insect production facility, WEDA can produce 550 tons of substrate per day. According to WEDA, the use of insects can help feed the world’s growing population while preserving much-needed resources. Compared to traditional protein sources, insects are a source that fully utilizes raw materials, thereby reducing food waste.
HiProMine develops a variety of animal feeds using WEDA insect proteins: HiProMeat, HiProMeal, HiProGrubs using dried black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) and HiProOil.
“Thanks to WEDA, we have found the most suitable technical partners who provide us with the production guarantees necessary for sustainable development in this business area,” says Dr. Damian Jozefiak, professor at the University of Poznań and founder of HiProMine.
